AMS Co-Chairs Symposium at International Annual Meetings of SSSA/ASA/CSSA

Symposium explores benefits of microbial soil amendments in enhancing fertilizer efficiency and improving crop yields


PILOT POINT, TX – November 03, 2009 – Advanced Microbial Solutions, LLC
(AMS), a leading agricultural technology company, today co-chaired a symposium at the International Annual Meetings of the Soil Science Society of America (SSSA), American Society of Agronomy (ASA) and Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) in Pittsburg, PA. Dr. Bob Ames, Senior Vice President of AMS, co-led the symposium, entitled “Humic Amendments: Advances in Understanding Their Effects on Soils and Plants: II,” which explored how commercial microbial soil amendments, such as AMS products, can enhance fertilizer efficiency and improve crop yields. Ames also presented at the event.

“It was an honor to co-chair this symposium, which brought together several key thought leaders in microbial soil amendments,” said Ames. “Awareness about the scientific advances in this field is essential for the success of the agriculture industry as it increasingly faces concerns over fertilizer costs.”

The AMS presentation discussed the benefits of AMS products compared to traditional commercial soil amendments. Typical commercial microbial soil amendments consist of select microorganisms selected for their ability to perform specific functions within the soil. In contrast, AMS products are based on natural, complex microbial communities and their biochemical byproducts. When applied to the soil, AMS products improve the performance of applied fertilizers.
